I am a domestic violence survivor, so I understand firsthand how difficult and dangerous it can be to ask for help. My own experience showed me the gap that often exists between knowing you need to leave and actually having the resources, information, and support to do it safely. I founded After Midnight Comes to help close that gap.
I have grown After Midnight Comes into a nationwide network of survivors helping survivors. My experience continues to shape how we approach every person who reaches out—with privacy, empathy, practical support, and an understanding that every situation is different.
For me, After Midnight Comes is about giving victims something that can be difficult to find in the middle of an abusive relationship: someone they can count on.

For a long time, I knew what it felt like to have my voice taken from me. Abuse can make you question your worth, your strength, and your ability to make decisions for yourself. Finding my way back to who I was and learning to use my voice again was not easy, but it changed my life.
When I joined Sarah at the beginning of what would become After Midnight Comes, we were two survivors who understood what it felt like to be afraid, alone, and unsure where to turn. We shared a determination to reach women who were standing where we once stood.
Today, After Midnight Comes has grown into a nationwide community of survivors helping survivors. I now stand beside women finding their way out of abuse and remind them of what I had to learn for myself: you are not what happened to you, you are not powerless, and your voice still belongs to you. I cannot change what happened to me, but I can choose what I do with what I survived.
